Engineer / Producer / Mastering

Born in Houston, Tx Randy has been a part of the regional music scene for the last 25 years. In the 80’s he started the band Zen Archer, fueled by his songwriting, the band was selected for several ‘best of albums’ including KLOL, KRBE and The Arrow.

Drummer Bobby Ginsburg [ Rod Stewart , Richard Perry] mentored Randy in the art of engineering and he was hooked. After the band went their separate ways he joined Walkee Talkee who also enjoyed local radio success and was on the nationally televised Star Search. In 1985 he built his first recording studio and mixed the song  ‘Stationary’ as a solo artist that got regional radio play. He was then offered an engineer position at Sunrise studio where he honed his craft and was able to work with such artists as Bob James, Kirk Whalum and La Mafia.

In 1988 he revived Zen Archer with a new lineup and the band became ‘the most popular rock band in Houston, second only to ZZ TOP’ according to a Houston Press poll. They put out 3 albums and we’re included on Z107’S  Best of Houston compilation CD as well as receiving numerous airplays and playing several live broadcast concerts. They broke up in 1994.

With the success of La Mafia’s million selling albums, Randy was asked to design and build a recording studio for them. Houston Sound Studio was a qualified success with 4 Grammy winning albums produced there as well as a client list that included Marc Anthony, Kings X and Goldie Hawn for soundtrack work. He also wrote a song with Pat Hunt that was included on the Grammy nominated album “Vida’.

In 2003 , he designed and built Tierra studios , considered to be the premier studio in Houston. The studio’s client list includes Destinys Childs'   Kelly Rowland , Elaine Hendrix , Stillife and Clandestine.

In 2004 Randy released his CD ‘Letters and Numbers’ which is compilation of 20 years of songwriting and recording. It is available on CD baby and iTunes. He also began working with Zen Archer again and in 2005 they began work on a new album.

In 2005 songwriting legend Burt Bacharach hired him to record over 30 of his all time hits for his TV special.

In 2006 singer-songwriter Johnny Nash hired Randy to remix the classic ’ I Can See Clearly Now’ and is continuing to work on several new albums with him.

In 2007 he produced the album 'The Gift of Brokenness'' for Laura C .  This album received international interest and was one of the top sellers on CD Baby last year.

In 2008 he became president of URLABEL.net , one of the first dedicated online record companies on the internet . He is now working in Austin and Houston and continuing to produce music that might change the world.
